CV22 4K SoC with CVflow™ Computer Vision Architecture

The CV22 camera SoC, the second chip in the CVflow family, combines image processing, 4Kp60 video encoding, and CVflow computer vision processing in a single, low-power design. The CV22’s CVflow architecture provides the DNN (Deep Neural Network) processing required for the next generation of intelligent home monitoring, automotive, drone, and wearable cameras.

CV22 supports computer vision processing at full 4K or 8-Megapixel resolution at 30 frames per second to enable image recognition over long distances and with high accuracy. It includes efficient 4K encoding in both AVC and HEVC video formats, delivering high-resolution video streaming with very low bitrates to minimize cloud storage costs. The CV22’s next-generation ISP (Image Signal Processor) provides outstanding imaging in low light conditions while HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing extracts maximum image detail in high contrast scenes, further enhancing the computer vision capabilities of the chip.

Ambarella H2 - High-Performance 4K Ultra HD SoC for VR Cameras

H2

The H2 SoC is an ideal single-chip low-power solution for VR cameras that require video processing up to 6K x 3K. It incorporates an industry-leading image processing pipeline (HDR processing, 3D temporal filtering etc.), that delivers superior video in challenging lighting conditions (e.g., low light, HDR scenes). The high-performance H.265/ H.264 video compression engines are ideal for compressing Ultra HD resolutions for storage and streaming applications. The 8/10-bit H.265 (HEVC) hardware engine encodes 4K video at 60 fps, while the H.264 (AVC) hardware engine encodes 4K video at 90 fps. The H2 chip is fabricated at 14nm and offers extremely low power consumption, allowing development of small-form-factor standalone or accessory VR cameras.

The H2 integrates seamlessly with dual sensors up to a maximum resolution of 3K x 3K and presents a flexible hardware dewarp engine that supports different projections (spherical, cylindrical, etc.) required for VR applications. The H2 SoC also supports on-chip stitching that allows blending of the de-warped video from two different sensors to create a 360-degree video (up to 4K x 2K). The flexible architecture also allows encoding of a side-by-side video (up to 6K x 3K) from two sensors for offline processing/ stitching.

The integration of a 1.2-GHz quad-core ARM® Cortex®-A53 CPU with floating point and NEON™ provides significant processing power for customer applications including user interfaces, computer vision, voice commands, and wireless networking. H2 also supports live streaming of a second, low-delay, full-HD video stream for wireless monitoring and camera control.

A12S

The Ambarella A12S SoC is an optimal solution for low-resolution VR cameras that require multiple sensor inputs and video processing up to 4k x 2k H.264 (AVC). The A12 SoC integrates an advanced image sensor pipeline (ISP), an H.264 encoder, and a powerful ARM® Cortex™-A9 CPU for advanced analytics and user applications. Fabricated in 28nm process technology, A12 offers a low-power choice for entry-level VR accessory cameras connected to a phone or other external host.

The A12S integrates seamlessly with dual sensors up to a maximum resolution of 2K x 2K and presents a flexible hardware dewarp engine that supports different projections (spherical, cylindrical, etc.) required for VR applications. The A12S supports encoding of a side-by-side video or two individual streams for offline processing/ stitching.
