Ambarella has developed a software development platform to optimize photography and video recording, enabling features such as Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), time-lapse recording, live video streaming and complete control over camera settings such as ISO, white balance, exposure, and motion-compensated temporal filtering.

Ambarella A7LS -  Sports Camera SoC

A7LS Sports Camera

The A7LS SOC enables a new class of wireless sports 1080p60 video cameras with low system power and high performance. Designed for connected sports cameras, the A7LS can simultaneously capture full HD video while streaming a second mobile-resolution live video over a WiFi network for preview or sharing.

Ambarella’s software enables the camera to be controlled wirelessly from a smartphone or other remote device. A unique architecture and 32-nm process technology minimize power consumption while maximizing performance. Burst capture and time-lapse modes provide powerful still image capture tools.

Ambarella A12S - Sports Camera SoC

A12S

The Ambarella A12S Sports Camera SoC is a system-on-chip solution that integrates an advanced image sensor pipeline (ISP), an H.264 encoder, and a powerful ARM® Cortex™-A9 CPU for advanced analytics and user applications.

Targeting the next generation of connected sports cameras, the A12S delivers Full HD video recording at up to 100 frames per second while streaming a second, live, mobile-resolution video over WiFi network for preview or sharing. A unique architecture and 28nm process technology minimize power consumption while maximizing performance.

Ambarella A9 - Ultra HD 4K Sports Camera SoC

The Ambarella A9 Camera SOC enables development of the next generation of HD and Ultra-HD video cameras with leading-edge video features and exceptional still-image quality.

In addition to 4K Ultra HD video resolution at 30 frames per second, the A9 supports high frame-rate video for capturing fast-action sports with 1080p video at 120 frames per second or 720p video at 240 frames per second.

The A9 includes dual-core ARM® Cortex™-A9 CPUs providing the performance required for advanced applications including wireless connectivity to smartphones for video-streaming or image sharing.

Ambarella H12 - 4K 30fps H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC

H12

Targeting a new generation of mainstream sports cameras, the H12 SoC supports 4K Ultra-HD HEVC and AVC video encoding at up to 30 frames per second, providing higher image quality at lower bitrates as well as faster video uploads and higher-resolution video streaming.

H12 includes High Dynamic Range (HDR) video processing to handle challenging lighting conditions, as well as advanced 3D electronic image stabilization (EIS) to stabilize video captured while the camera is shaking or in motion. The H12 chip is fabricated at 28nm and offers very low power consumption, allowing for small-form-factor camera design and development.

The integration of a 1-GHz ARM® Cortex®-A9 CPU with floating point and NEON™ provides the processing power required for customer applications such as wireless networking. The H12 de-warp engine allows the use of wide-angle lenses with minimal image distortion, while a second, low-delay full-HD, live video stream enables wireless monitoring and camera control.

Ambarella H2 - 4K 120fps H.264/AVC and 4K 60fps H.265/HEVC

Targeting high-end camera models with 4K Ultra HD H.265/HEVC video at 60 fps and 4K AVC video at 120 fps, the H2 SoC delivers pristine video during fast action shots as well as smooth slow-motion playback. H2 includes 10-bit High Dynamic Range (HDR) video processing to handle high-contrast and wider-color-range scenes, offers high-ISO DSLR-quality photography even in challenging conditions, and features advanced 3D electronic image stabilization, significantly reducing the negative effects of camera movement during filming. In addition, the H2 chip is fabricated at 14nm and offers extremely low power consumption, allowing for small-form-factor camera development.

The integration of a 1.2-GHz quad-core ARM® Cortex® -A53 CPU with floating point and NEON™ provides significant processing power for customer applications including video analytics and wireless networking. The H2 hardware de-warp engine supports wide-angle panoramic camera designs, while USB 3.0 connectivity provides fast upload of high-resolution video. H2 also supports live streaming of a second, low-delay, full-HD video stream for wireless monitoring and camera control.
